coconut has been used in tropical food and drink for centuries by the Brazilian, the Caribbean, Thai, Filipino, Indian and many countries in southeast Asia.

Early Sanskrit writing reveal that the people of India were using coconuts as a staple for food and various everyday needs. In India the coconut palm was known as kalpa vriksha, which translates as “tree that gives all that is necessary for living.” The Infonesians say, “There are as many uses for the coconut as there are days in the year. “ Coconut palm, Cocos nucifera, is also considered a “three generation tree,” supporting a farmer, his children, and his grand-children.
