Satay (South East Asian and The Netherland)
slices of dice-sized meat (chicken, goat, mutton, beef, pork, fish, etc.) on bamboo skewers. These are grilled over a wood or charcoal fire, then served with various spicy seasonings, served with a spicy peanut sauce dip, or peanut gravy, slivers of onions and cucumbers, and ketupat.
Massaman Curry (Thai)
an islamic-influenced curry, can be made with duck, beef, chicken, tofu, or pork. It usually contains coconut milk, roasted peanuts, potatoes, bay leaves, cardamom pods, cinnamon, palm sugar, fish sauce, and tamarind sauce.
Rendang (Malaysia and Indonesia)
a slowly cooked meat in coconut milk and several spices including ginger, galangal, turmeric leaf, lemon grass and chillies.
Pi a Colada (Puerto Rico)
a sweet, rum-based cocktail containing light rum, coconut cream, and pineapple juice. The drink is typically served either blended or shaken with ice. Two common garnishes are a pineapple wedge and a maraschino cherry. Pi a Colada is known as the official beverage of Puerto Rico
Cocadas (Chile and Colombia)
a dessert, usually round-shaped, these are common to both Chile and Colombia, made up of coconut, pineapple, brown sugar and other tropical fruits; especially common in the coastal regions.
